Goals and Guidelines

Goals of the Conferences and Workshops Sponsorship Program:

To create a framework that fosters collaboration among researchers in Qatar with the global research communities.

To encourage all academic institutions and relevant stakeholders in Qatar to engage in hosting scientific and academic conferences.

To attract national and international academic institutions and relevant stakeholders to host their periodic conferences in Qatar.

To give exposure to the importance of research for undergraduate and postgraduate students in Qatar.

Guidelines and Online Application Sponsorship Requests

The sponsoring decision will be taken upon a competitive basis for all academic institutions, government or private organizations in the State of Qatar.

Sponsorship will take into consideration the number of conferences or workshops already sponsored by QNRF for the submitting institution within a calendar year. 

The sponsorship decision will also be based on the constraint of the allocated QNRF sponsorship quarterly fiscal budget.

QNRF reserves the right to determine the level of conference sponsorship and the sponsored amount for conferences and workshop.

QNRF is not obliged to justify its sponsorship decision and will not reconsider any turned down sponsorship request.

However, if due to limited budget constraint, QNRF, reserves the right to postpone its sponsorship decision for the following yearly quarter. In this event, the applicant will be notified of this eventuality.

The timing of the submission request should take into consideration the posted Timeline for the date of QNRF’s decision notification for each quarter of the year.

Eligibility:

QNRF will only consider sponsorship requests submitted through its online submission site.

Applicants at stakeholders in Qatar should log in at this link (under construction) and provide the required information in the conference or workshop sponsorship online form and submit it to their Research Office (RO).

The Applicant for a conference or workshop must reside inside Qatar and be affiliated to a submitting institution in Qatar.

The submitting institution is an academic, government or private organization in the State of Qatar, which is responsible for vetting and submitting the request for sponsorship through its RO.

The RO is to vet the request and to upload the Sponsorship Request Letter for consideration by QNRF.

Upon notification of QNRF sponsorship approval, a Conference or a Workshop Sponsorship Agreement will be signed between QNRF and the Dean or the President of the submitting institution upon which the sponsorship amount will be transferred to the submitting institution.
